Everyday objects that have extended capability, allowing them to interact with both their environment and with each other, and in some cases also to learn. This often encompasses Internet access, but may also include sensors, readers and / or communications devices that are wireless and have both short- and long-distance ranges.

Trajectory

In order to achieve the smart environment with smart objects interacting, there needs to be standardization of formats and protocols.
Objects will need to be secured against potential virus attacks and the protection updated automatically.
By being able to sense and adapt to the environment we can expect to see the objects adjust to their environment to perform optimally.
Downtime will be reduced as there will be no need to wait for an engineer visit. Smart objects will be able to make many adjustments themselves without the user needing to have to intervene.
