Wearable Computing
Concept
  • This technology trend refers to computers that are worn on the body. It is especially useful for applications that require computational support while the user’s hands, voice, eyes, or attention are actively engaged with the physical environment.
  • Display is either head-mounted or on a pocket-sized screen. User interface is typically via speech.
  • Devices are intended to be unobtrusive and fit naturally into the user’s working environment without distracting the user.
Trajectory
  • This technology has few implementers available.
  • Design of such system needs to be multi-disciplined, encompassing human physiology and the psychology behind dressing, for example how wearable items are essential in establishing identity and social roles.
  • As the use of computers gathers more ubiquity, so would the need for essential policies and facilities for use and after use disposal for such systems.
  • There may be some ethical questions to answer, namely how far and how deep the penetration of such devices in our society would be deemed suitable.
